Struggling with work while pregnant?
When Emalee, a worker at a large supermarket chain, began finding some of her duties difficult to perform due to her being pregnant, she assumed she would have to leave work.
She was unable to bend to fill shelves, was having trouble reaching up high and was also finding nightfill work difficult. This meant she was working slowly. Unaware of her rights, she took early maternity leave.
However a family member suggested she contact the SDA for advice. We were able to help Emalee return to her role on limited duties and she is now able to continue working until her baby is born.
If you have any questions around your rights as a pregnant worker, contact the Newcastle SDA office on 4961 4694.
