Snowboarding Accident? We've got you covered!
Stephanie had a snowboarding accident at the end of August. She pulled cartilage, dislocated her knee and was written off work for 4 weeks. As Stephanie injured herself outside work, she had expected to pay the cost of her treatment and time off work herself.
When a Union Official visited Stephanie’s workplace following her return to work after the accident, she was advised that, as a member of the SDA, she could lodge a claim under the SDA’s Accident Insurance policy.
The SDA’s Accident Insurance scheme covers financial members for prescribed injuries, incapacitation and death at all times when not covered by workers’ compensation.
Stephanie took up the offer and followed our advice. Her claim resulted in a payout of $2850.00 in November.
Stephanie says, “By being a Union member, I was able to claim on the accident insurance when I injured my knee snowboarding and was off work for 4 weeks”.
If you are a financial member of the SDA and have an accident outside of work, please contact the SDA Newcastle & Northern Branch office on 4961 4694 or email us on email@example.com to find out if you are eligible to make a claim.
The SDA’s Accident and Insurance scheme covers you in the event of a range of defined injuries, incapacitation and death when they are caused by violent, external and visible means outside working hours and are not attributable to an illness. Check the policy for coverage and exclusions.
