Have you injured yourself outside of work?

Published on: Jun 02 2017

Allex injured himself on a jumping castle.

He dislocated his ankle and fractured his right leg. Allex did not think of contacting his Union, the SDA, after his accident as it had taken place outside of working hours. It was on the advice of another member who regularly reads ‘Cause, the union magazine, that Allex contacted the Union to find out more about the SDA Accident Insurance Scheme which is free for all financial members.

The policy covers all financial members in the event of broken bones, loss of limbs, sight or hearing, and other defined injuries as listed in the policy, which is available to members via the office.

In Allex’s case, he was able to claim for ambulance transport to the hospital, a dislocated ankle and a break in his right leg. He received $1319.93 from the policy which will help him with his expenses while he is recovering.

Allex says “Being a union member helped me out after breaking a bone with their accident insurance”.
