Meet our May Delegates of the Month - Michelle & Charmaine
For the month of May, we have a very special 'Delegate Duo' of the month.
We congratulate Michelle and Charmaine from Myer Erina Fair!
Q & A's
Why did you become a Delegate?
At the time there wasn’t a Store Delegate and the majority of Team Members felt vulnerable and unsure in their workplace.
We wanted to be able to help our Members be informed about their rights in the workplace and to help them feel more confident to speak up about their concerns (Deb Dunning was also very persuasive haha).
Why is recruitment important?
Unity- your Union is only as strong as it’s Members.
The more Members we have the louder your voice and stronger we are together.
What campaigns have you been involved with and why are they important?
No One Deserves A Serve really highlighted the need for Employers to acknowledge and step up implementing a zero tolerance of Customer abuse/threats.
Everyone deserves to work in a safe environment without their physical or mental health put at risk.
What has been your most notable achievement in your workplace?
A workplace win over a written warning given to a Member.
What have you enjoyed about being a Delegate most so far?
Working together hopefully making a difference in Store for our Members and building good relationships with them as well as our supportive Store Management.
What do you aim to achieve in your workplace in the next 12 months?
100% Member recruitment.
What do you get most out of the role as a Delegate?
Working together as Delegates gives us both an immense amount of satisfaction assisting and reassuring our Members.
Being a Delegate is an extremely rewarding role and one we are very proud of.
